Well as you can see I made some progress with the cages. The smaller one, is one of the Gold gilt cages, that had a little white bird in it. I managed to pull the bottom off and remove the perch and bird, but left enough wire inside to hold the ring in place on the top.
The larger cage was more of a problem, it took some brute force to get the bottom off. It did contain a brightly coloured resin Parrot on a resin stand. But it just would not come out. Mick used a pair of pliers to try and get it out, but no luck. Eventually, he just broke the Parrot off. I've just painted the resin, the same colour as the cage, so it looks like a piece of wood in there. I can then stand an owl on it.

Looks good!

Now that I have seen this entry, I am thinking that you could sculpt the wire legs right on the resin log and then put the bird on top, sculpt, and bake the whole thing. I don't think that it would hurt the bottom of the cage.
Perrrrfect !!!!

Here is a cage that can open. with a little paint you can make it darker.
I do not know how to paste a link. lets try it.
