Watch Parts And Miniature Books...

A few weeks ago I happened to make a comment on Casey's blog about Watch Parts. Casey is building a Steampunk Cottage.
Well after making the comment Grace from Treefeathers, sent me an email, offering to send me a bag of Watch Parts all the way from the U.S.A.. How kind was that. Well they arrived yesterday and I was so excited, I want to build an Orrery for Diagon Alley, using the little wheels etc., from the watches.
Grace very kindly enclosed three of her wonderful Miniatures Books. What a wonderful surprise.
Thank you so much Grace, it was really kind of you and very much appreciated.
I just need to find my Soldering Iron and I'll be well away....

They're great Debbie and hope you have time to makes lots with them.
The books are fantastic too.
Looks like you have enough to make lots of other things too. How about a time machine? Thats what i would make.
Hve you seen those dials with numbers on? I've seen some on ebay.
You could add one of those and use them as the dates.
I bet there are nice interesting bits to be found in old typewriters and things like that which would be perfect for a time machine.
Talking of time... lol. Best get back to my photos's.
Have some nice jars going on ebay this evening.
I've decided i'm going to list one or two things every other day and work like that from now on. I need to a new angle to make me push myself and think this will work.
Hope your not too busy with the ponies but can't wait for their babies.

An orrery?!!!!

What.

A real working one?

I saw one once at Kensington, many years ago...can't remember who'd made it (may have been St. Leger or Ken Palmer) but it had sold for over £1000. When you turned a little handle, the planets all moved around the sun according to their actual orbit times.
Completely amazing and incredibly intricate. The maker said he'd never do another one again.

Ever.

Can't say I blame him, so good luck with it.
