A Little Help Please... Baby Names..
As you all know by now we are awaiting the arrival of our first Miniature Shetland Foal of the season. We are expecting at least 7..Now I have a bit of a dilemma! The boys want to name the foals after the Greek Gods and Goddesses. Our prefix name is Hericus, which is Harry's name in Latin. Now to keep a track of what year we are on, we started with the letter "A", so had foals with the names of Apollo, Aphrodite and Archimedes.
This year we are on the letter "B", so need names beginning "B", but I'm having a really hard job finding any names. The only one I've been able to find is Bacchus.
So do any of you out there, know of any others beginning with "B"?..... Or any Latin names beginning with "B"?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
The picture is of Hericus Athena our very first foal..

Oooo! How exciting!
Brigantia
Bellona
Bona Dea
Bacchus (as you said)
These are off the top of my head. I'll put some thought into it and see what comes up. I think next year's C will be easier...
What a cutie! I believe Baucis was a wife of somebody, Bellona was a goddess of war, Briareus was a son of Uranus, Boreas is north wind, Briseis might be somebody too and Bosphorus actually a water-way, but a name anyhow... Sorry if some misspelling occured.
Debbie, the one name that popped into my head as soon as I heard you say Greek and horse together was Bucephalus. That was the name of Alexander the Great's horse. I kind of like the idea of naming a tiny horse Bucephalus.....It means "Great Horse!"

How about B.A Baracus... LOL. Not sure how you spell that but only joking... lol.
Hmmmm.... names startung with b.
Barnaby, Barney, Brute, Benjamin, Brucey, Bernie, Bernadette, Bertrum, Bertie, Basil (brush... lol), Baylen, Beau, Bellamy, Benecio, Benji, Bentleigh, Bellinus, Berrin, Blain, Blaze, Bliss, Burnell, Bathilda, Bonnie, Briony, Burtha, Brooke, Belinda.
Can't think of others. Maybe my names are no good.
Here is some Latin names.
Bacchus, Balaza, Balibo, Balen, Balbinus, Balbo, Baline, Balbi.
Boreas - god of the Northern Wind
Briareus - a Giant
Greek heroes
Greek hero Bellerophon. He was the son of the Greek god Poseidon. His mother was either Eurynome or Eurymede, and her husband, king Glaucus, was his earthly father.
Briareus
Beta, it is Greek though.
the very best of luck with the foals Debbie! The only B-god that I can think of is Brizo - the goddess who protects sailors.

Bellerophon is the half mortal son of Poseidon.
As far as Latin/Roman mythology goes:
Bona Dea - the good goddess
Bacchus - Roman version of Dionysus
Bellona - goddess of war
Baccha - female worshipper of Bacchus
basilicus - means royal or princely; spelling it basilica or basilicae can make the word feminine
bellicus - means warlike; where Bellona's name originated- gives you a masculine option
beryllus - Ltin for beryl, a gemstone; spell as berylla for female
bonus (m) or bona (f) - good
Boreas - the northwind, which is a male persona
Britanni - this one should be obvious.. the Britains, Britanicus makes it male and singular
Bromius - a surname of Bacchus
Bruma - feminine, mneas winter solstice
Brutus - historical
bucca (f) or bucco (m) - the cheek when puffed outward... like saying "a mouthful"
bucolica is a neuter word meaning pastoral poem...
bulla (f) - a round swelling, which in water means "bubble"
-also bulla aurea is "golden ornament" or amulet
Buleuterion - is the name of the meeting place for a Greek council
I hope this helps! I studied Latin for three years, but I never had the chance to learn Ancient Greek.
