I Opened The Door..

I blame Nikki for this, she's given me a Bee in my Bonnet about the Garage..
When Nikki was staying with us the other weekend, I showed her the dreaded garage! Well I say dreaded, because if I need any Miniature bits and pieces, this is where 80% of them are. The rest are in the Barn, Boot Room and Caravan! Told you I'm obsessed.. That's without the all the Dolls houses, Shops and Room Boxes I have indoors..
Nikki wants me to sort this lot out, because she's worried the stuff is going to get damaged. Literally every nook and cranny is crammed with Miniatures of some description or another! Even down the middle of the floor there are boxes and boxes jammed packed. That's without all the units running down the other side with the Dolls Houses on top of them, the units are full too.
Nikki rang me last night and we were chatting, and again she said you really need to sort that Garage out.
Well Nikki, I opened the Door, took some pictures, walked out and closed it again.
Just where would you like me to start?... LOL.. And if I go in will I ever come out?..

Debbie, I can't wait to show hubby your garage. If I leave one thing on the workbench in HIS garage he thinks the world is going to end! LOL! Starts tearing his hair out which is pretty funny seeing as he has hardly any! Oh the fun we could all have in your garage. So if you need something do you know where to find it in there?

Holy Cow!!! I know if I ever went in there I'd never come out....What in the world?? Looks like you've been collecting for years! LOL...Now us nosey folks wants to know whats in all those plastic tubs????? I bet you go 'shopping' in there often!

Mercedes, Mick has his own building in the Stable Yard, which is filled to the brim, with his stuff.
As for finding stuff, sometimes I can put my hand straight on it, but otherwise its a frantic search!

Katie, I used to make Miniatures for a very well known Dolls House Import/Export business. That is stuff I've made in those boxes. They all have code numbers on them with what's inside.

Oh Debbie...I know exactly what you mean. My garage/shop (which is almost the same size as my house) is so full of minis that it is overwhelming. Sometimes it is easier to buy something again than it is to go looking for it :)

Cannot believe my eyes!!! If I have to move I want to come to your garage!! It's the heaven for miniaturist! Do you really know what's inside each box and house? are you sure you do not need a helper with lot of enthusiasm, English speaking and Uk lover? If you need, just ring to me. I'll fly... Really I'd pay to come and help you.

I simply cannot look away, I’m mesmerized and also a little frightended for my own storage future :o

I’d say set small goals to do maybe 30 mins or 5 bins per day.

Or (LOL) this might call for some child labor with Ice Cream compensation.

Debbie said...

Rosanna, no I don't know what's in every box only the plastic crates, because I can see what's in them. But the Cardboard boxes are another matter, as there are boxes within boxes. Your Welcome here any time Rosanna.

Debbie said...

Marsha, don't know about a large suitcase, think you'd need a Shipping Container.. LOL..

Debbie said...

A.Wright, think it would take more then Ice Cream to bribe my Boys in there. I've already sneaked a Doll House into their Sitting Room..
Unfortunately you are in a Hobby that although Miniature it grows and grows and grows..

Yep, I'm moving into your garage too!!! What a little Aladins cave!! I think I'll have to show those photos to my hubby too - prove to him that I really don't have that much stuff (1 dollhouse and 1 sideboard crammed with my supplies)... he thinks I'm already taking over the house! How little he knows!!!!

Blimey thought we had load of houses! lol , what are you going to do with the house Debbie. I agree with Nikki it would be such a shame if it got damaged, damp etc
I have 4 houses in the workshop/shed, and a kit and the other day i noticed the box of the kit was really damp, so brouight it in to put in the loft. Id hate for the houses to get ruined though so im trying to move things around to bring them in too. Do your boxes of things get damp, my material has all had to come indoors now. Its ok in the summer but not in this weather. Kate xx

Hi Debbie, It looks quite organized and neatly packed. The next time I get asked, what did I make with all the stuff I bought, I'll think of your stash and not feel so on the spot! lol!

Sasha I can honestly say it starts with a little stash and then grows like topsy..

Kate there are 6 Houses made out there thats without the kits and I have Diagon Alley, 4 other houses, 5 shops and 4 Room boxes indoors. I'm trying to make room for them all indoors!

Mary you can never have to much! LOL

Sabiha as I said before it starts small and then grows..Its an addiction..

Hi Debbie. Sorry i've taken my time today to come and comment on your gigantic collection. Been having problems with auctiva and ebay this evening and my buyers at the moment can only pick up rather than have a postage option. Hopefully wll get it sorted soon. Dont want all the visitors... lol. Hopefully ebay know about this and can get it sorted.
Anyway, you must now turn around and go back to the garage tomorrow, then when thats done off to the caravan, the barn and so on. Clearly it can't all be kept in the house but try and get it all into the garage rather than everywhere. Then sort it all out, keep what you want and sell the rest. Your bonkers keeping this amount... lol.
If anyone reads this i've been in this garage and and its all bigger than the pictures are showing. I didnt venture as far as the barn uspstairs but the barn is masive so there must be a load up there too. As for the caravan, you could turn it into a travelling miniatures shop... lol.
Well actually you know thats not a bad idea. You could actually sell what you dont want this way and tour the uk... oh lol. Got to laugh.
Off to check out if i can sort my problems out with ebay.

It's just like my unstairs cupboard which is called the cupboard of doom! Where no one ever comes out!I open the door quickly throw in the item and shut the door. One of these days the door is going to burst open and we will be attacked by the contents ha ha ha!
Good luck with sorting it, look like you have a lot of great treasures in there!

OMG Debbie.....just leave the door shut! If you get in there we'll never here from you again!

Dunno about sell it and tour the Uk...I think you'd make enough to tour the world...for the rest of your life...with family in tow.

Oh my...I don't' know whether to be amazed or scared LOL.

Don't you want to get into it all to see just what is in there...it'll be like Christmas for days...wait...make that months !

Next time Mick whines at me for having too much i will show him these pics...that should shut him up pronto.

It really looks very well organized, everything is in plastic containers. I love it, bet there are some wonderful goodies. Flylady (an organizing web site I like) recommends no more than 15 minutes at a time, I always liked that idea. I would love to see what is in each of the boxes, how about doing one box a day and photographing it for us, am I too curious, lol.
