Back Together Again..

After the trauma of the roof coming off. The whole Roof needed a rethink. In a way, I'm glad it happened, as it showed up the weakness in the structure. I'd have been devastated, if it had happened and all my stuff had got ruined. The sides of the cabin, now have a large piece of timber running down each side, for the new roofing sheets to be screwed into. Susan, having seen the damage, told me about Hurricane straps, that are used in the States. We don't have Hurricane straps, but we have something similar. So I now have metal strap's, that go up and over the Apex's of the roof, and are screwed into the Roof joists. They are then screwed down the sides and are Thunder Bolted into the Cement base. The wind also caused the Cabin, to shift and the floor was bouncing, so the whole thing was lifted up onto new 4 x 2 treated flooring joists and the floor is screwed down on to them. No more bounce. The new roof was put on, but it was so cold at the time that the felt couldn't be put on, so a tarpaulin had to suffice for a couple of days.

The piece of wood over the doors, was put there as a temporary measure to keep the weather out, until I could get a new piece of heavy duty perspex to go in there.

I am going back into Hospital later on this morning, well in 7 hours, for another operation. But will show you what happened next when I'm home. Best, I get to bed and try and get a few hours sleep...

The Ecstasy & The Agony..

You were right, those of you that guessed that its my workshop.

And this is what it looked like on the evening of the 2nd January. But that evening the Gales came.
On the morning of the 3rd January, we got up to total devastation. The Wind had reached up to 98mph. Wales and the rest of the UK had taken a severe battering. It lifted the roof with the Rafter's attached and the Apex's, off in one piece and taken it over the back of the Stable Block, up over the embankment, then impaled itself on the top of the stock fencing, part of it was resting on the top of my Horse Trailer.

I can honestly say I didn't know whether to laugh or cry. The only thing I was grateful for, was that none of the Ponies, had been hurt in all the Chaos. What totally amazed us, was the Doors, they'd  stayed shut. I was so lucky that the Rafters, stayed in one piece and the Apex's were undamaged. But the Tongue and Groove roofing couldn't be salvaged.
But out of all this chaos, the workshop rose again.

Seven Year Wait...

After seven years of waiting, on the 20th December 2011, a Lorry turned up at our House and the Delivery Men, helped by Ben & Harry, unload a long awaited Cargo..
It should have been here in the middle of November, then they said the first week of December. But there were some logistical problems, at the manufacturer's end and it ended up being delivered Christmas Week.
Here's just a small portion of it, being unloaded. Some of it was put straight into the Barn, as it wouldn't be needed straight away.
Any ideas what it could be?

I'll give you a clue, its a great big giant Jigsaw...

Wonderful Witch & Baby Dragon

Way back in 2010, I purchased the Toll House and decided that it was going to be turned into a home of a little Witch, who was a bit singed around the edges and looked after baby Dragons. I blogged about it in the November of 2010. Yes, I know, another outstanding project.
I contacted Joy Cox, of Adora Bella Minis, and explained how I'd like her to look and could she have an apron with a pocket, for a little Dragon to go in. Joy has a blog and a website.
Joy exceeded her brief, and I think you'll agree, she is the perfect little Witch, to look after Orphaned Dragons.
Next, I needed the perfect little Dragon, to go in that pocket and while looking at Lisa Oliver's, little Needle Felted creations, in her an Etsy shop called Tiny Cuddles. I came across this teeny tiny Dragon.
The little Dragon is so tiny and very detailed and she fits in the Witches Pocket.
I think you'd agree they are a perfect match.
I've got lots more to show you shortly...

Its Been A While...

Like everyone else, I think real life caught up with me last year, and I have been a very bad blogger, you know what's it like, time catches up with you. There have been Birthday's, Christmas and now Spring has sprung. We have one Foal due this year, which is due in April.
I took these photographs today of the Bulbs that are currently blooming their hearts out.
Lots of things have been going on with me health Wise. I think I've had every test and scan known to Man in the past few months. I am going into Hospital again, for quite a major operation in April. But hopefully after that I'll finally be on the road to recovery. Well I'm keeping everything crossed.
Although I've been quiet, on the blogging front, I do keep up with lots of my Mini Friends on Facebook and I have been trying to read as many of your blogs as I can, even though I don't always leave a comment.
I've also been collecting Miniatures, for a project that I hope to start later on this year and I got some wonderful Miniatures for Christmas and my Birthday. So will have lots of pictures and links to share with you all. I am having a few problems adding links to my Mini Links page for the blogs, think I may have reached my limit within that gadget. That's another thing that needs sorting. As I've found some fabulous new blogs, but just can't add the links.
However, something exciting happened here at the end of December, which so nearly turned into a complete disaster. But is now completely back on track and I'll be ready to share with you all soon. And those of you that know, don't let on yet.
