Miniature Books

I've been making some miniature books, over the last week. I'm really pleased, with how they are turning out. The Beige Leather is a tester, I've made a few mistakes with this one. But, its all a learning curve and I'll do it differently next time.
The top photograph of the beige leather book, is actually the book in the bottom photograph. Wonderful what some ink can do.  It measures 3cm x 2.5cm. The Hinges, were cut from Black card, then painted and then antiqued, to look like old Brass. I hand cut, a recess into the middle of this book and lined it. Not the best of photographs, the lining, looks bright Pink, but its not. It will hold a secret of some kind, but not sure what yet. The Edges of the pages were gilded, be give them an old fashioned look.
I'm working on another book at the moment, which I'll show you once its finished.
These pictures were taken on my phone, so my not be as crisp, as my photographs taken on my Camera.

Leather Books

Whilst I was in Cardigan the other day, doing some Christmas Shopping. I popped into the Dolls House Shop.
I wanted some wood, for a little project I'm working on. While I was having a good look round I spied this lovely little Leather Books. I think they will look perfect in either, Flourish & Blotts or The Toll House when its completed.

Nursery Rhymes Miniaturised

Can you remember back to a blog post, I did in August?. About a Nursery Rhyme book that Mick and I had as children.
Well my friend Doreen, in Canada read that post and emailed me for some photographs of the illustrations, which I gladly sent her.
Doreen, being the very clever lady that she is, miniaturised the illustrations and made a miniature book. Well she actually made me two, one for me and one for Mick.
Thank you so much Doreen, they will be treasured..

More Of Kat's Hats...

Last week I was lucky enough to win another three of Kats hats from Ebay. Kats got some lovely hats on there at the moment. I have to resist..
They came in the post yesterday and Kat had put in the parcel a stack of books she'd made. Thank you so much Kat, they are going in the Apothecary.
The Red, Black and Mauve hat has lace, feathers, Roses and a Black Bird on one side, but as you turn it round, there is a big fat juicy Spider on the other side. The Black & Mauve one also has Roses, Netting , and a lovely crystal hat pin,but if you look carefully, there is a Black Rat on there with little Crystal eyes.
Last but not least is the Coffee and Cream confection, which is covered in Ribbon Roses. If you click on the pictures they should pop up bigger.
I think this Hat Shop is going to have to be quite big to house my ever growing collection..

Miniature Books..

Last night while we were watching TV, I sat and made lots of Miniature Books from kits that I brought from Hilda Burden, to put in the little bookcase in the Apothecary. They were really simple to make and as everything is already pre-cut, it was just a question of gluing the covers on. Some open and others are false. I mixed them in with the books that I brought from Grace at Treefeathers and the others which I brought from via Ebay from Mainly Minis.
The little book case is now finished, but still want to make lots more..

Look What Came In The Post...

I've got to share these with you.
I won some of Nikki's Jars from EBay, Goblin Brains and Tapeworms, well I expect any self respecting Witch or Wizard would have some. These are going in the Apothecary.
But there was a couple of other things wrapped in the box for me.. Ben and I were fighting to open the little packages. Ben said it was like a lucky dip.
Nikki sent me one of her wonderful little Cauldrons and a Mandrake Skin Book. Aren't they fantastic. I adore them both and love the way they are poking their tongues out. The Cauldron is definitely taking pride of place upstairs in the Apothecary. There was a couple of other things in there as well, but I'm sworn to secrecy at the moment, until Nikki unveils them...

Wizard's Bookcase..

I've been distressing again this morning. This little bookcase is for the upstairs in the Apothecary.
The wonderful little books are a Magic set, that I brought from Grace at Treefeathers.
Grace also has a blog called Treefeathers Life In Miniature. Unfortunately, my photography skills don't do them justice. Your better off going to have a look on Grace's web site. She has hundreds of lovely books to choose from.
It's very difficult trying to organise the upstairs of the Apothecary, due to the shape and height of the walls. I want it to look cluttered, lived in but well worn.. And of course this is where the Wizard, mixes and makes all the potions and spells.
I was extremely lucky last night, to win some more of Nikki's wonderful Witch & Wizard Miniatures on EBay, which will also be going in the Apothecary. I'll share them with you later.

Miniature Books.....

As promised I've taken some pictures of TreeFeathers miniature books for you all to have a peek at.. Aren't they cute. These ones are all witch/wizard orientated, but Grace has hundreds of different themes on her website.. Really worth having a look. The links to Graces Ebay & Web site are in my sidebar.... Its a shame that my camera hasn't picked up the minute detail on some of the books. Graces pictures on her site are much clearer.

Miniature Spell Books...

This morning Postie arrived with a Parcel for me from America, but customs had got hold of it and I had to pay £19.97 customs duty to get it! Not the best why to start the day. Anyway I'd ordered 14 Miniature Spell Books from mainly.minis! on ebayhttp://search.ebay.co.uk/_W0QQsassZmainly.minis! they are really great. I got A History Of Magic, Standard Book Of Spells, The Dark Forces, Curses, Dragon Breeding & Care, Magical Beasts, O.W.L.S A Study Guide, Astrology, Charms, The Dark Arts, Magical Trees, Bewitchments, N.E.W.T.S and last but not least Magical Potions.
Their going to look great in Diagon Alley, when I eventually get round to refilling it. I'm also waiting for some more books from Treefeathers, which are also spell books. Needs lots to fill up Flourish & Blotts and I want to put a bookcase upstairs in the apothecary, where the Wizard mixes his spells. I've already brought Year 1,2 & 3 Student books for Hogwarts, there were 10 in a set also from America from http://search.ebay.co.uk/_W0QQsassZlacyhome4boys, they have the most beautifully tooled fronts and spines, but are blank inside.
Utility room now has a run of top cupboards and hopefully the doors will be going on this afternoon, so I'll take some pictures later and post them.
