New Kitchen Roof.

Back at the end of October, we had a steady stream of Contractors & Builders, doing jobs around the place. I blogged about it here. We had the scaffolding put up around our Kitchen, so that the new roof could go on. Well I say new roof, but the old Slates were reused.
The first two pictures show the sorry state of the old roof. It has caused quite a few problems in the Kitchen, the worst being, that it has damaged my Kitchen Units.
The Builders and Roofers, had to work with the weather and when it rained they couldn't work. It felt like the Antarctic, in the Kitchen while the Roof was off.
Its had all new Rafters, Battening and Insulation, Vents, Soffits and Guttering.
They finally finished the Roof, at the beginning of December and it was signed off by the Building Inspector. Then the Scaffolding came down.
I can't tell you how pleased and relieved we are, that it is now water tight.
I'm going to wait until after Christmas and then I'll redecorate in the Kitchen and in the Spring, when the weather warms up, I'll give the outside a lick of paint.

Builders & Contractors Galore...

Our place has been getting a steady stream, of contractors and builders over the last few weeks. It started off with Alfie, who came to do our Barn Roofs. Undercoat went on and that was allowed to dry, then the top coat went on. What a difference, they certainly needed a new paint job.
We then had the Contractors come and put up the scaffolding around the Kitchen, as we need a new roof on there. But before the Builders arrived, James, came to tile the Utility Room Floor. I've hated the floor in there, since we came here, but it did its job, until I could have it re-tiled. I'm really pleased with it, looks so much better and there are no humps, bumps or dips any more.
Then our Builder arrived and had a site meeting with the Building Inspector, as its not as simple as taking the old slates off and replacing any more. Everything has to conform or be approved before, they can start. Thankfully, they were given the go ahead.
The Roof was stripped on one side and all new joists have been put in. Unfortunately, the weather is not being kind to us at the moment and the Builders worked till 10pm the other night to make the Roof water tight. The thick insulation, felt and batten's have been started. Just need a break in the weather, so that the Slates can go back on and the other side can be stripped.
There's also been a big reorganisation in the Cabin, which I'll show later. Now maybe I'll be able to get some Mini work & crafting done. I've also been asked to write review on a new product, that's been sent to me. So will share that as well as soon as I can..

Another Sneeky Peek...

Lots as happened in our Household in the last couple of months. We've had quite a few visitors, including some of our oldest friends, that we haven't seen, since we moved here. Its been fantastic to catch up with everyone.
I've also been busy decorating indoors and I'm still trying to sort out my Cabin.  The Cabin is coming along nicely, but already think I may need an extension!  There are still quite a few mini buildings to go in there. I still have some big furniture to paint, including finishing painting, my old Dining room chairs and put the bookcase back together, so I can get my hundreds of Miniature Books and Magazines reorganised.  Although thinking about it, I might ask Father Christmas nicely for a new one. Also need another table in the centre, and some other form of shelving, means a trip to Ikea, but I'm not complaining.

I took these pictures a few days ago, just to give you some idea, how its all coming together. This arrangement, could quite easily change again, once I move more out there...
The little Garden, that I made down the side of the Cabin, has been a complete success. I've really enjoyed watching that all come together and its still blooming its little heart out.

Nearly Finished

Since my last blog post, I've been redecorating Harry's Room. I was a bit dubious, when I put the darker Grey on the walls, but I have to say, I'm really pleased with the results. I'll be hanging his new curtains today, but am awaiting delivery of his new Headboard for the bed. I've also got to get him a new desk, as the one he had, was falling to pieces. Harry also wants one of those Vinyl Stickers on the wall, which I haven't ordered yet. But to be honest, I like the room the way it is..........Next job on the agenda, my Bedroom, but I'm having a rest for a couple of weeks, as we have visitors coming to stay from Sunday.

What a depressing Summer, we are all enduring this year. The Rain just keeps on falling and falling. I feel sorry for all the people that are getting flooded. Certain parts of Wales are on Amber Alert for more flooding this weekend. Hopefully, forewarned is forearmed.
Because of the weather, I've not been able to work outside, so decided that I start decorating indoors instead. I was going to do the decorating in the Winter!!!!. The first room to get a complete make over was Ben's Room. I've completely reconfigured, the sleeping end of his room. It looks so much better now and we've even been able to fit in another wardrobe, it seems to have opened up the room and he'll now have more space to move around in there. Ben choose the colour and I did the rest. I just need to get him a new Chest of Drawers and a Bedside Cabinet as the ones in there, are just about holding together. A trip to Ikea, is in order. I was lucky with the headboard, that was originally off my old bed and had been stored in the Barn. After a through good clean, it came up lovely and saved me having to buy one.
Harry's Room, is now under going a make over...
