Hats & Horses...

Yesterday, Leroy one of the roofers turned up much to our surprise and put some more slates on the roof, which have have to say is looking really good.. Spent quite alot of time down with the ponies and the usual stuff like mucking out etc...

Well the new girls have settled really well, and they've all been greeting the other Ponies through the fence, will give it a couple more days and then we will let them in with the others.

Filled in the transfer certificates for Shetland House, so will get them off in the post today. Didn't take any pictures yesterday, forgot to take the camera down with me, so will try and remember today.

I've added a ebay link on my blog for Kat Hazelton, who makes the most fantastic miniature hats, she's also the lady that I brought the Spooky Bits from, see earlier posts. I've just purchased from her some fantastic Witch hats.. She also has a web site which is http://www.corylus.urbs.demon.co.uk/, check it out. For some reason only known to blogger it wouldn't accept the website link but has accepted the Ebay link! I've been trying to upload pictures of them, but blogger is having one of them days at the moment, will try again in a minute... Yippee! finally managed to get the pictures on here..

Sunday...

Well we had a really long day yesterday. Left here at 5am to travel to my cousin's in Princes Risborough, Buckinghamshire. We arrived there about 9.50am. Just as we arrived Ben rang us to let us know that the roofers had turned up and were working on the roof. Bev very kindly cooked us a lovely breakfast. Had a good ole chin wag and then had a walk round with Micky so he could show me the new horse "Frank". What a lovely lad he his. Ally(Rooney) showed me some pictures of her jumping him, and you could tell by the pictures that Frank loves it and they are both doing really well. Hopefully one day we will see them both at Olympia..
Micky's son Michael arrived with his four beautiful daughters, who I have never met so it was quite a family reunion. Although it could have got quite confusing with Mick, Micky and Michael!
Bev also showed me this years foals, oh bless I just wanted to scoop them up and bring them home, one was a dead ringer for Warrior, but a totally different colouring, it turns out he is Warriors full brother.
Bev has decided that she is no longer going to show or breed her miniature Shetlands, as they want to spend more time on the show jumping side. But wanted her favourite Miniature Shetlands to stay together, so they have gifted 4 of their Mares to me.... And guess what 3 are definitely in foal, one of which is Warriors Mum. 1 we think is in foal but not sure, so we will be having foals next year. Most of them have Tawna Breeding.
They all walked perfectly into the trailer and we made the long journey home. We stopped at the services for petrol and I checked on them and they were all merrily munching away on the hay nets as if it was an every day occurrence. Got back to our place about 5.30pm and turned them straight out into the little paddock. Where they all immediately started munching the grass. Checked on them all again about 10pm to make sure they had settled and they were all OK. I went down to them again about 8am this morning and you'd think they'd been here forever.... They've certainly made themselves at home.
Roofers are back this morning so hopefully that will be finished today, well we can live in hope. Got to say that what they've done looks fantastic.... Will take some pictures later to post of the ponies and the roof.... Bye for now.

Friday Morning...

Well not a lot happened with the roof yesterday. They started OK! We popped to Diane's to get some shavings for the Stables, we were only gone about 20 minutes and when we got back they'd gone, then the Heaven's opened and it poured down. It looks pretty miserable out there today, but at least it isn't raining. I have no idea if the roofers are coming today or not.... Oh the joy of waiting around for other people... NOT..
We are going to see my cousin Micky tomorrow in Berkshire. Ben is going to stay at home to look after the animals and revise for his exams, or spend all day on the phone to Katie. So will leave him in bed as we want to hit the road around 5am as it takes about 5 hours from here. So should arrive there about 10am, then we can spend a few hours with them before driving back... Just hoping we have good weather, nothing worse then being on the Motorway when its pouring down.
Tried to get motivated to make some miniatures last night, but didn't get very far, was too tired.
Had a lovely email yesterday from a lady who has brought some of my bits, she is making them into jewellery for her daughter. I've asked for some pictures when shes made them, so I can post them on my blog. I gave her my blog address and I know she's read it as she left a comment on my Ebay feedback. She's asked me to do some sausage and mash with gravy. Promised I would. Hello Sara if your reading this.
Still waiting for those miniature trays from America, that were missing from the parcel. Have emailed and they have replied that they sent them 10 days to 2 weeks ago. Don't think I'm going to get them. (see previous post 11/10/07).
I'm also awaiting the arrival of some miniature spell books from America, to go in Diagon Alley.
Hopefully might get some parcels today. If I do will take some pictures and post them later.
Off to sort out the ponies now.... x

Thursday Morning....

Yesterday the roofers came but couldn't do anything as the new cement hadn't gone off enough. Popped into Town to post loads of parcels, so hopefully my customers should start receiving their miniatures today. Need to sort out some more to list...
Well the roofers are back today, and there's loads of crashing and banging going on, so hopefully we will see some progress today. Unfortunately for us, when they ripped the old roof off, most of the timbers that support the Veranda were rotten. Which has meant they've all had to be ripped out and replaced. I can see the cost escalating before my eyes. Plus loads of my beautiful pointing had to come out as well. Nothing has been straight forward with this house. Still at least I know that we haven't botched anything, everything has been done properly. We've done so much, every wall inside was taken back to the slate, re-rendered and plastered, new electrics, plumbing, new central heating system, new joists in the ceilings, new bathrooms, all new insulation, you name it we've done it. Boy has our budget gone through the roof, literally.... When the house is completely finished I'm going to get the estate agents to re-value it and hopefully we have increased its value substantially. We won't have a pot to pee in, but its ours, lock stock and barrel with no mortgage... Nice little nest egg for our boys.
I've had over 2000 hits now on this blog, so Hello to everyone who's reading this.... Bye for now..

Hazel's Witchy House....

Had an email from Hazel yesterday, with some piccies attached of her Witchy House. There not very clear as they were taken on her mobile phone. But whats outside the front door?Pumpkins for Sale....If your a regular reader of my blog, you'll know that Hazel asked me to make these Pumpkins for her and I gave a tutorial on how to make them..

Don't they look great, Hazel loves them. I love the house and have emailed Hazel to find out who made it.. Fabulous detail..... Just have a look at the roof and the front door behind the Cat... Even the Windows are leaded. You can just imagine a Witch living there, mixing spells in the Kitchen, Herbs hanging from the ceiling, with her broom propped up against the fireplace. Wow! getting completely carried away there......
Thanks Hazel for sending the pictures. When you find your camera, send me some more PLEASE......

Tuesday....

Well the roofers managed to felt and baton the veranda roof yesterday, so today its up the scaffolding for me to do some pointing before they come back tomorrow! Its a lovely day but chilly, wish I'd never thrown them thermals away!
Andrew finished cutting the hedges and they look all neat and tidy now, expect him to call up later this week with the bill. I'll try and take some more pictures today.
Rang my friend Diane yesterday to see how she is recovering after her operation. She seems ok, but a bit fed up cause she can't do anything, she said that she's having good and bad days. Told her that I will try and get to see her this week if I can. Haven't been down there in case I gave her the virus we all had.
My Miniatures are finishing on Ebay today, hopefully they will all sell. See Hazel's bidding on a few bits. Hazel left a comment on my blog, to say that she's really loves the Pumpkins, so pleased she finally got them..
Well I'm off now to get cracking on the roof.
Good Luck Katie with your exam today, hope it goes well for you... xxx
