The Big Freeze...

Another day of the BIG FREEZE...
The boys were supposed to go back to school yesterday, but all the Schools here are closed. I've just checked the School website and I think they will be closed for the rest of the week.
We've just watched the news and it looks like we are due another lot of Snow in the early hours tomorrow. Their now saying this could go on for another couple of weeks. One of the gritters from Ceredigion ended up on its side after sliding on the ice. Severe Weather Warnings are still in place here and the temperature's are set to drop to -10 tonight.
Mick had to pop into Town today to pick up our prescriptions and he said it was treacherous. I've been taking photographs through the windows and from the safety of the veranda, there's no way I'm going out just in case I fall over.

  1. The outlook is bleak to say the least...you're hearing the same weather reports as I am. the local schools are closed here tomorrow too. We popped out today to stock on some bits we were out of as tomorrow will be worse and we won't be able to get to the local shops on foot let alone car. No grit in our area at all and THAT's the problem. :o( I love the look of snow...but that's all I like! lol

Stay safe indoors I've told both my parents to not go out and only clear the path they need to walk on and no more!

  3. It is sooo pretty, but I feel for your inconvenience. We've got snow here (other side of the North Sea) too and weather reports are warning for more snow and especially ice. So as gorgeous as the view is, I agree with Glenda: let the sun shine!

  4. I love snow but only on skiing tracks and for short span of time. Be careful, keep warm and wait for the end of the ice age. Hugs Rosanna

  6. Hi Debbie, very wise to stay indoors in the warm, though I must admit I had fun in the snow today with my girls (and the dolls!). My younger daughter's school hopes to open in the morning, but I'm wondering if they will. I just want to get back to work, as have lots to do.
    Best wishes

  7. you have lovely views from your house, I wouldn't wander far away either! My daughters school is closed too but she's not complaining as its her 12th birthday tomorrow and she's more than happy to spend it at home although she may very well be making more snowmen in the garden!

  11. This is pretty much the weather we've had for the past month here.. aka normal :)
We have a good 30cm of snow and more predicted today. It's only -8C, should be -15 tomorrow. And yes.. only.. it was -20 on Sunday.
The coldest I've ever had was -36C.
    Now THAT is cold!

  12. Rudoo a gritter is a lorry that has a snow plough on the front and carries road salt, it clears a path with the plough and drops salt behind as it goes.
The Ponies have a large barn that they can walk in and out of, plus we have 6 in the Stables and field shelters.

  13. Stay warm and safe Debbie. I love the pic of Merlin. Our boy Henry just yamps in the snow. We have seen all of two gritters and school paths are gritless when years ago when I was small we never had time off due to bad weather.
