After my plea on Monday for any ideas on miniature chicken wire. Michelle from Michelle's Mad World, emailed me to say she had a small piece of material in her stash and would I like it.
It came today and its brilliant, just the right scale and feels like plastic and very flexible.
Thank you so much Michelle, just need to plan out what I'm doing before I start cutting. Watch this space.
Oooh its lovely. Quite strange i think its lovely but it is anyway.
ReplyDeleteDo you know where Michele got it from?
I want to make some cupboards with mesh like this.
Looks like chicken wire to me! :)
ReplyDeleteI was thinking...
That maybe you could stick one of those little hexagon wrench thingys in the holes to shape them? Don't think it would work on plastic though...
Can't wait to see what you do with this great gift!
Curiousity is getting the better of me, what is it? lol ;)
ReplyDeleteWhat strange mini things you can find!
ReplyDeleteSo good. And very useful as well. Same question than nikki: where does Michele get it from? It would be interesting to know. Have brilliant day. Here the weather is lovely after days of grey dull sky. Hugs Rosanna
ReplyDeleteTulle works well too! I've just used it on a pantry door, wouldn't have thought of it myself, have to thank Linda Carswell at une-petite-folie for the tip, and be careful because there are two 'weights' of tulle and for this purpose you need the heavier one.
ReplyDeleteI have similar stuff I bought from a model railway shop. It is aluminum wire mesh used to build the hills etc. on a railway display. It has the perfect scale.
ReplyDeleteIt is made by 'Heki' from Germany (article #3107 Alu-Drahtgewebe für den Geländebau).
Hope this is helpful to you.
I can't wait to see the cages you make Debbie! :o)
ReplyDeleteI wish I knew what 'it' was! lol I thought my Mother gave it to me...she has renovated and upholstered armchairs I thought it was some sort of seating enforcement....I vaguely remember it being part of some packaging! It’s substantial stuff in it’s own way.
You could use fine petit-point material (it’s sturdy but flexible)and remove every other thread and the dye the required colour, or use one of those little draw-string bags that you put your washing machine tablets in and dye it. :o)

Hi Debbie...so kind of Michelle to sent you this piece of chicken wire.
ReplyDeleteYou can also use some tule for chicken wire, paint it silver and it looks just like the real thing! I used it for some doors in a cupboard. You also can use the fabric you have to put at your windows to keep the musquitos out.
I hope this is helpful to you?

Perfect....ask and you shall receive. Cyber friends are the best. Looks like some fun stuff. Can't wait to see what you do with it. Hugs! Kim
ReplyDeleteI think it is the material they use on screen doors and windows. They sell it at the hardware stores here.
ReplyDeleteSure looks like it to me! Hugs again~ Kim
Hello Debby!! I used the tulle to make a mosquito net to the kitchen window of my dollhouse, you can see in the picture nr 4 in this post
